How not to lose your hair during stress? We relieve stress safely and easily.

Stress is a combination of physiological and psychological reactions of the body to external and internal phenomena..

Each of us has experienced the “joys” of this “ailment” at least once in our lives. And it’s not always just about the emotional component..

Stress manifestations can be very different, depending on the cause. Broadly, the following states are distinguished:
physiological;
psychological;
short‑term;
chronic;
nervous (people with neuroses).

Physiological stress, for example, is divided into chemical (triggered by non‑functioning processes in the body), biological (caused by diseases), physical (associated with intense physical activity), mechanical (caused by injury or surgical intervention), and noise stress (the negative impact of sounds and rhythms).

Psychological or emotional stress also has many subtypes related to family, work, personal problems, and so on. The short‑term or long‑term (chronic) impact of stress differs in the scale of its effects on the body.
Psychologists delve into the specifics of personal, interpersonal, professional, environmental, emotional, and informational stress..

And there can be so many combinations and sets...

Interestingly, all these types of overstrain can affect the condition of the hair. The catch is that hair loss and even baldness do not manifest immediately after a surge of stress in the body, but 3-6 months after an unpleasant situation or a past illness.

Stress and hair loss. What’s the connection?

Any emotional shock leads to the production of adrenaline. This hormone affects the micro‑muscles that raise the hairs — for the same reason, animals raise their fur when they’re scared or attacking an enemy.

Due to the contraction of the muscle fibres, the hair follicle is compressed and raised. The hair shafts are damaged, which can lead to partial or complete hair loss.

Also, at the moment of acute emotional distress, there is a sharp rise in blood pressure, vascular spasms, and significant hormonal fluctuations. If a person calms down quickly, the body itself brings all the indicators back to normal. In such cases, hair density is restored in a short time.
Prolonged stress in the form of neuroses, chronic anxiety, depression, and apathy leads to the gradual suppression of hair follicles. The first signs of alopecia due to prolonged stress may appear only after several months. First, hair stops growing, and then it begins to fall out actively.

What happens in the body?

Adrenaline is produced, and a hormonal imbalance occurs. The muscles compress the “papillae” that supply nutrients to the hair follicles — this leads to nutritional deficiency and oxygen starvation. If there is a prolonged lack of oxygen, vitamins, and minerals, the cells that form the hair bulb are destroyed. In other words, new hair shafts do not form in place of the old ones that have fallen out.

The situation worsens if, against the backdrop of hair loss, a person starts worrying about it, and then we get a double stress blow.

Warning “signs”

The first step to solving a problem is to acknowledge it. The ailment that has befallen you can be recognized by its symptoms:
  • increased excitability;
  • constant worries, inability to distract oneself from them;
  • deterioration of cognitive functions;
  • irritability;
  • passivity;
  • depressed mood;
  • sleep disturbances;
  • decreased or increased appetite.

Even if your hair isn’t running away from your head in panic right now, but at least two of the points listed above are consistently present in your life, you should take action.

How to cope with stress?

The most basic advice is to calm down and avoid overexerting your body, whether psychologically or physically. It’s not stress itself that’s harmful, but our wrong reaction to it. The art of not giving a damn isn’t for everyone, but it’s something you can learn. :) Especially since the fate of your hair is at stake.

So, how can we help our mind and body?

It’s simple — make time for yourself! When you’re focused only on yourself and on doing what you enjoy, it helps to harmonize your psychological state. And after that, your physical indicators will return to normal, and your hair will stop falling out.

To save you from racking your brains, here are some examples:
breathing exercises — they promote deep relaxation and saturate the body with oxygen;
meditation — it restores hormonal balance and helps to coordinate the functioning of all systems.
affirmations – positive statements about whatever you want;
a favorite activity – your hobby that provides maximum relief;
physical exercise – promotes the production of endorphins, which reduce stress.

And our favorite and accessible to everyone:
aromatherapy combined with water treatments – an indispensable way to relax the body and spirit;
music therapy – the right music, synchronized with the vital rhythms of your body, can work wonders and break the shackles of tension every day. In the “Music for Relaxation” section, we have compiled a collection of melodies for relaxation.

It is important to understand that stress‑relief measures are even more effective if they become a habit. Make it a habit to turn on pleasant music on your way home from work, take a warm bath with foam, get enough sleep, and inhale pleasant scents in the morning.
All of this awakens the flow of energy and emotions in the body and helps the body heal itself, which is immediately reflected even in the hair.

Take care of yourself, love and take care of yourself!
